First Demonstration of the Korean eLoran Accuracy in a Narrow Waterway Using Improved ASF Maps

The vulnerabilities of global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) to radio frequency jamming and spoofing have attracted significant research attention. In particular, the large-scale incidents that occurred in South Korea substantiate practical importance implementing a complementary system. This letter briefly summarizes efforts deploy an enhanced long-range (eLoran) system, which is terrestrial low-frequency system can complement GNSSs. After four years development, Korean eLoran testbed has been recently deployed operational since June 1, 2021. Although its initial performance at sea satisfactory, through narrow waterway still challenging because complete survey additional secondary factor (ASF), largest source error for eLoran, practically difficult waterway. proposes alternative way ASF improve map generation methods.
